We are digitizing the collection, check some of the projects I have been developing  to make the material in our collection more efficiently and readly available to you!

ThripsVision: Digitizing Thysanoptera Collections with AI.

The Thysanoptera collection at the Entomology I at Senckenberg Frankfurt is one of the three most important in the world. It currently comprises about 270,000 specimens mounted on slides or kept in alcohol, and 3600 species of which 2120 are represented by holo-, lecto-, or paratypes. We are currently digitizing, adding QR codes, and with developing methods of metadata extraction using computer vision.

EntomoVault: Digitizing and Databasing Entomology I Collections.

EntomoVault is dedicated to digitizing and creating a comprehensive database for the collections housed at Entomology I. Our goal is to preserve valuable entomological specimens and make their data easily accessible for research and education. Volunteer Opportunities: We invite volunteers to participate in this innovative project. Opportunities for remote volunteering are available. If you’re interested in contributing, please get in touch!

Citezen Science

We are working on citzen science project to digitize and make more accessible our collection records. This will facilitate the work of many scientists when searching for the  specimens in our collection.

Big and exciting challange…..Stay tunned!
